While Valentine’s is usually associated with the one you love, it is also the perfect time to remember and appreciate your friends, and friendship. I learned very early, as a new Mom, how invaluable and how much I depend on my friends. Someone to share with, get advice from, or just hang out with when you needed that tiny break from the reality of life.
But did you know friendships can actually enhance your health? They can influence your cardiovascular system and your immune system and how well you sleep. Something so simple but so very very important. The bonds we create with each other make us feel good and promote emotional wellbeing. This helps us stay healthy.
Just like all relationships we need to really appreciate our friendships and learn to cultivate them. I believe spending time with friends takes away my worries and stress. So as a stylist I enjoy shopping with my girlfriends and suggesting new fun ideas for their wardrobe. Not only is it fun, it brings us both so much joy and this in turn is a huge health benefit.
A few weeks ago Ashley and I got the opportunity to explore NYC looking for new fitness wear for her. We spent an hectic but really fun afternoon in Nordstrom’s NYC pouring over their amazing collections. Not only did she get some really cute pieces, we enjoyed time together, pulled some yoga poses and had a blast. I left feeling energized and ready for the rest of my busy day.
So remember that your friendships are just as important to our wellbeing as eating right and exercising. So take this moment to call a friend and make plans. Or go shopping with me and make a new friend. Make 2020 about not only looking good, but feeling good.
Fashion is for everyone.
